Selection Box

The seconds notched a fantastic victory on Saturday, whilst the firsts also somehow managed to scrape over the line, and it should have been smiles all around. Unfortunately there is a dark cloud on the horizon in the form of Selection Committee issues, and I sincerely hope that they are resolved quickly and to everyone's satisfaction. The under 11s recorded a fine victory on Sunday against Hawk Green, and High Peak under 13s, featuring Charlie Kitchen, Ole Madden and Bruce Glover, recorded their first victory for 2 years, against a North Derbyshire side that had not lost for two years. Monday night was a disappointment, with the under 17s suffering a narrow defeat against Dove Holes, and whilst the Selection Committee were there to pick the senior sides and offer encouragement and support to the juniors (whilst potentially picking candidates for the seniors), last night there were too many distractions as the non playing captain, 1st team captain and 2nd team captain spent a good part of the game locked in a room debating selection matters that should have been done away from this junior fixture. Just my twopennorth!
