2nd XI v Buxworth (away) Saturday 6th August

Rumour going round that Toe won the match for us. Here's the truth. Will Weston took 4 wickets and Charlie Kitchen three to restrict Buggie to 202 for 9. Ed Kitchen thought he was captain but Toe demoted him to Toe's assistant.
Will McIlveen opened with Dave Lomax (15) and put on 99. Will went on to make 123. Ivan and DC fell for not many before Toe came in to join Will McIlveen at 145 for 3, and promptly ran out our star man and would be match winner. Charlie Kitchen came in and to prove it was no fluke, Toe ran him out as well. Rob Hill came in and understandably refused to leave his crease before getting out. Tom Hayes was briefed to be very suspicious of any forward motion by Hambleton so batted for a long while taking three cautious singles.
Toe made amends by striking several fours and a couple of sixes and despite being dropped twice saw us home at 205 for 6 with Toe on 47 no. Thus did Toe circumvent long term ignominy.
D. Cadwallader.
