Buxworth Blues

The under 16s suffered their second defeat to Buxworth in just over a week on a dull but dry evening at Horwich Park. This should have been played at Buggy who were officially the home side, so Whaley batted first and struggled early on. Dan Mulholland eventually fell for 32, whilst Callum McIlveen top scored with 32 as Whaley finished on 97 for 6. The rule of thumb in these games is that 120 will make it close, and this proved to be the case as Dan Gilbride hit an unbeaten 61 to see Buxworth home by 9 wickets. Dan Mulholland was the pick of the bowlers, but things could have been very different if one of the four chances that Mr Gilbride offered up had been taken. Next week sees the chance to get the season back on track as our boys host Chapel on Monday evening.
