Its been a long time coming, but the under 16s gained a deserved victory at Buxton, their first for two seasons. Batting first, Whaley were soon in trouble as most of the big guns failed, but Harry Bold with 22 and Steven Weston with 19 at least ensured that we had a total to bowl at. 103 for 8 did not feel like a match winning total, perhaps fifteen to twenty short, but nobody told our five pronged attack. John Stanway and JJ Goldfinch bowled with aggression early on, then Callum McIlveen and Alex Cripps took up the mantle. The score was behind the run rate, but there were wickets in hand, then Dan Mulholland came into the attack. The loyal and long suffering visiting support at last had something to cheer about, and this they did to good effect. Wickets started to tumble, and when JJ took two in two balls the game was over. Hats off to the entire team, including Ed Austin, Ben Stones, Ole Madden and Bruce Glover from the under 13s, all of whom played a part in the historic win.
